There are many many cycling routes available locally in Holmfirth – the most famous of which has to be Route 68!
Route 68 is the two-wheeled equivalent of the Pennine Way for walkers – except at 355 miles (571km) the Pennine Cycleway is almost 100 miles longer.
Forming the National Cycle Network, Route 68 heads through the Peak District on the Tissington Trail en route to Buxton, then the Midshire’s Way to Whaley Bridge and New Mills. Beyond Glossop it takes to the Longdendale and Trans Pennine Trails, then after climbing to Dunford Bridge it veers north to Holmfirth.
Other local routes include ‘The Pennistone Loop’, The Hope to Holmfirth ‘Hard as Nails’ Loop, Holmfirth circular 71 Paris, Scholes bike ride, the Holme Moss and the Strines Holmfirth bike ride and many more besides!
